A Little While
by Sara Teasdale — a poem card from Justes Mots
Teasdale reflects on her own legacy, imagining her life living on through music as luminous foam borne upon the sea before returning to nothingness. The extended metaphor of frail, glowing foam captures both the beauty and transience of human existence. Suitable for memorials, celebrations of creative life, or meditations on lasting impact despite inevitable mortality.
A little while when I am gone
My life will live in music after me,
As spun foam lifted and borne on
After the wave is lost in the full sea.
A while these nights and days will burn
In song with the bright frailty of foam,
Living in light before they turn…
